Outlander Season 7 will be based on bestselling author Diana Gabaldon’s novel An Echo in the Bone, and will consist of 12 episodes. “We are so excited Starz has given us the opportunity to continue the epic Outlander journey,” showrunner Matt Roberts said via statement. “We can’t wait to get into the writers’ room and start breaking Echo in the Bone and look forward to giving the fans another season of this exhilarating story.” All four major cast members–Heughan, Balfe, Sophie Skelton (Brianna) and Richard Rankin (Roger) will return. Also returning–if the series follows the book–will be David Berry (Lord John Grey) and John Bell (Young Ian). Season 6 of Outlander, based on A Breath of Snow and Ashes, is currently filming in Scotland. “Starz is committed to investing in unapologetic, bold premium storytelling that amplifies diverse voices and shines a spotlight on women in front of and behind the camera through our #TakeTheLead initiative,” said Starz head of originals Christina Davis. “The hit series Outlander embodies everything about our initiative including a powerful female lead character and an amazing team of storytellers. We look forward to following the adventures of Claire and Jamie in America during the Revolution as well as more time travel during this next season.” Next, Sam Heughan shares what he loves most about Jamie Fraser and some Outlander Season 6 scoop!
